Then there was the Gardens by the Bay. It's obvious that this is a new project in Singapore, but a lovely one none-the-less. Right across the water from what seems like the pit lane of the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, this park is beatiful even if it is still "short". But out of it come two very large buildings, made of glass, standing out in their form as well as their size. We decided to visit one named "The Cloud Forest" and were greeted with a seven story building. One goes in, enjoys the coolness of the setting (it's intended to emulate a cloud forest which, after all, is supposed to be in the clouds and, obviously, a little chillier than your average equatorial park). Once inside you make your way past walls for flowers and plants to the elevator which takes you to the top. From there it's a mosey downward by way of spiraling walkways moving off the wall and around until they return back to the central internal spine. Above us, as if walking on air, the cleaners mopped the outside of the building. Quite a juxtaposition to the natural wonders of the inside.
The girls literally giggled with delight. From the colors of the plants to the fact that they had access to the cameras they were running from one plant to another snapping photos of pretty much everything. "Look at this daddy!" Amalia would explain, competing for attention with Irini who, simultaneously, was stating "These flowers are so big mommy!". Of course there were others around too, but no one seemed particularly concerned with the commotion we were causing in every step of the way. If anything, those around us were delighted by the delight of our girls, and that, naturally, delighted us to no end. :-)
