Paros: The Place
We had gone back-and-forth on the conversation related to this reunion. It had been over 10 years since all of us had shared a time and space and so it was important to find a place that worked. Greece? Yes! An island? Yes! But what kind of experience were we looking for?
It didn't take long, with this crew, to realize that any island would do as long as it was fun and authentic and provided us with our space to celebrate our being together. We started with several options and as we looked through the variables - the place, the price, the transit situation, etc. - we finally decided to try out luck at Paros. Our family had been there a few years earlier and loved it and so it was online research to find that 'perfect place' within a reasonable budget. Out of town. With a nice view. Big enough to fit three families (in appropriate groupings).
We ended up with a beautiful airbnb on the easter side of the island, close to Golden Beach. We had a car, making it simple enough to get around, and needed it because though there was one beach and one taverna within walking distance, there wasn't much else. The taverna, Stella's, was a 10 minute walk away and became the favorite hang out for John and Scott, in particular. And for all of us we found ourselves being attracted to the family style approach of Logaras, just a short drive from our place. Just beyond that lay Kato Livadi, another little favorite seas side village with just enough of a cosmopolitan feel to make it an excursion.
We discovered a hidden beach and enjoyed the time there frolicking in the waves and looking out over Naxos' friendly coast looking back. We made our way to Antiparos (which we love) too! Lots of amazing places, made even better with friends. :-)
