We see them every once in a while. We talk to them much more often. We love the completely! It was our first get together with John, Melissa and Izzy in six months and though we live comparatively close, we haven't seen them as much as we'd like. But this time around the ladies of the two families started planning and getting things organized. A plan here. A reservation there and next thing you knew we were reunited, this time in Greece! So what does one do with new people to Greece. Show them the country, of course! This time it was, of course, a visit to the Acropolis, the Plaka, Syntagma, the national gardens and Panathenaic stadium, but also a multi-day trip to Meteora (and a side trip to Metsovo while we were at it) and a few days in Nafplio and Edipauros as well. Not bad for a few days!
The highlight, as might be expected, was certainly the food, but the greens of Greece in Spring and the colors of the great variety of plants, shrubs and trees was quite spectacular. We found ourselves taking walks, looking over vistas, driving through mountain passes and dropping into places for coffee or a meal. Days ranged from spectacular blue skies to snow (can you believe it?) and that array too added to the wonder of the experience. What a great visit with great people!
