One of the amazing parts of our life is the fact that the global wandering lifestyle we've chosen has brought us into contact with an incredible array of people. Thousands of people we've shared our life's journey and story with over the years come from all parts of the world. And in those thousands there is a an number we are fortunate to call friends. And an even smaller group still that we get to call 'chosen family'. Not all parts of the family are connected apart from our presence, and it sure is nice when these connections come together from time to time.
Summer 2022 was perhaps, best described as a recalibration. It was a chance for us to move beyond the difficulties that our family has had - both through Covid and through the loss of Aleko and Beto in the past two years - and to find joy in the fullness of life's experience. The beginning of the summer found us making our way to Paros where we had arranged a reunion with Scott & Rebecca (of the 'cott and 'becca days), Melissa, John and Izzy (all of who we see, thankfully, more regularly in Muscat) and, for a couple days, with John, Mariam, Arian, Eva and their cousin and aunt. It was, by all accounts, a pretty amazing opportunity to share the fullness of friendship in an idillic environment.
It was here that the reconnections, the shared stories, the creations of new shared memories, and the experience of being in one place at the same time, made for the perfect melding of mind, and heart and body. The shadows of loss and concern that marked so much of our life in the past two years made way for the amazing place and people we were surrounded with. And we were reminded of the intangibles that fill life's journey with meaning. The love. The banter. The stories. The connections. They bring with them the fullness of experience that makes life so much more meaningful. They also create deeper bonds with those whom we choose to call chosen family. We love you all!
