The official birthday came and went when we were still in Greece, but given that we have quite the extensive play-group set up here in KL, we decided that a post-birthday bash would be in order. In all around 30 people joined in to wish Irini a happy 3rd birthday down by our pool. It seems that this poolside birthday bash is becoming a bit of a customary thing, and it's always a success! The pool, the day, the space, the smiles, the wishes, everything was great!
Well... almost everything. We had hoped that Irini's little crying fits in Greece when the birthday song was sung were, well, left in Greece, but it turns out that, though Irini loved the presents and the fun and the guests, she didn't really want to have a birthday party for her. We pretty much got away with it for the entire time it was being run, until we happened to stumble into the sing-the-song-and-cut-the-cake routine. Irini literally began to cry and let her body fall down so that, by the end of the song, she was crying profusely and sitting under the table while her friends (particularly Carter who is celebrating it all!) sat above waiting for her to return and blow out the candles. It was such a nice cake too. Chocolate cake just like Irini loves.
Happy birthday, little beauty! Tears of not, we love you!
